Welham lake and its separate activities are available for everyone to participate.

Some of the best carp fishing around, with its own authorised CEFAS registered fish farm, stunning nature watching and photography hides and in the winter enjoy the wonders of the underwater carp academy in the lakes’ crystal clear waters.

The lake itself is set in stunning surroundings, with the surrounding landscaping originally performed by the famous Capability Brown.

There is an abundance of wildlife. We share the lake with an array of bird life from Buzzards to Kingfishers and don’t be surprised to see Foxes, Badgers or Deer in the surrounding woodlands.

The lake is heavily stocked but by no means easy. The fish show themselves frequently and the species present are Carp to 26lb+, Tench to 10lb+ and the odd (but rare) eel to 4lb+

There is currently a lake management plan in place with the end result being around 100 fish all over 20lb

The swims are placed with tranquillity in mind – indeed unusually for a day ticket lake during the summer you cannot see another angler from your peg, giving the feeling of exclusivity.

Visited by many magazines, consultants, Sky sports and tackle company road shows over the years, Welham has built a reputation for its beauty, tranquillity and quality of fishing.

The lake spans 5.5 acres, is spring fed and maintained by spring water via a borehole in the summer. With 12 bookable pegs, excellent facilities and services it ranks as one of the best day ticket lakes in the country, not for holding the biggest fish but for the setting and experience.

The lake is only open for everyone to enjoy, membership is free but you must register on this site to join and bring suitable ID on your first visit.
